Take care when cleaning the sensing capsule. Failure to follow instructions can result in permanent damage to the membrane, reducing sensing accuracy and voiding the warranty.
Wipe down all exterior surfaces with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use caustic, acidic, or alcohol-based cleaners on any part of the BrewOps Purge.
Ensure that the four relief vents are clear of obstructions. If necessary, use a paperclip or similar tool to clear debris for proper operation.
The white Teflon membrane on the sensing capsule protects the electronics from water vapor while allowing oxygen gas to permeate into the sensing chamber. Alcohol-based cleaners reduce the permeability of the membrane, causing permanent damage. For periodic sanitization of the membrane, use only a clean, damp rag soaked in 3% hydrogen peroxide.
Unscrew the top housing counterclockwise by hand to expose the battery and retaining clip. Carefully remove the retaining clip by prying up from either side by hand or with a flat head screwdriver.
The battery retaining clip is intentionally very stiff. Take care not to injure your fingernails when prying by hand. It is recommended to use a flathead screwdriver for removal.
Remove the battery by pressing down and rocking forward while gripping the sides of the battery. Do not use metal tools to forcefully pry, as this can damage the printed circuit board behind the battery.
Discard used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Replace with a new battery of the same chemistry and voltage. Note that while the battery resembles a standard alkaline D cell, it is not. See below for detailed specifications on the battery and where to purchase.
